Starting on June 26, Magic Box Productions and the Harrison Public Library System offered environmental media arts mini-camps, where young participants had the opportunity to learn interesting documentary and photography techniques. Students age 8 to 16 learned the importance of being environmentally conscious in a world of dwindling resources, and they used media arts to demonstrate the importance of community action.

On Wednesday, May 3rd, a full house gathered at the Salmagundi Club to celebrate Media Arts with Magic Box at FOCUS 2017, honoring Shree K. Nayar - T. C. Chang Professor of Computer Science  at Columbia University, and Martin Crook- Award-Winning Photographer.

We want to express our gratitude to Neuberger Berman’s corporate volunteers, who joined us in the classroom on Friday May 5th for a day of service at the Early Childhood Discovery and Design Magnet School in Harlem.

Welcome back to a wonderful new school year!

This exciting summer media arts program created for the NYC DOE’s  Division of English Language Learners and Student Support used cameras to connect students with their curriculum. 

From July 18th to the 21st, Magic Box Productions and Harrison Public Library offered a documentary mini-camp for young filmmakers, where they had the chance to explore the town of Harrison and learn hands-on documentary techniques to create original videos.

During the third Blueprint: Moving Image PD Workshop on May 25, 2016 at The Museum of the Moving Image, Variety Chief Film Critic Owen Gleiberman shared insights about the importance of good critique in society and education.

Shot in late 2013 to early 2014, 'Melmilap' recounts the reunion and travels of the filmmaker Jon Appel with three of his college friends Milap, Larry, and Guman in Nepal (the home of Milap and Guman), during a time when its political sphere was at a historic precipice.

Manhattan International High School Students Mary Mansaray, Farjana Tahmin and Hawa Tall and Bibi spoke at the opening of the 2016 Face to Face Conference at the City College of New York, presented by The New York City Arts in Education Roundtable.

Camille Fleming joined Magic Box Productions in 2016 and is presently the  Photography Teaching Artist at Brooklyn’s International High School at Lafayette.
