From July 18th to the 21st, Magic Box Productions and Harrison Public Library offered a documentary mini-camp for young filmmakers, where they had the chance to explore the town of Harrison and learn hands-on documentary techniques to create original videos.
This great tour through Harrison’s history was led by Mr. Gene Westmoreland, a well known and respected local historian, who taught the students amazing facts about the local community.
The Documentary camp culminated with the presentation of the student’s video, where family, community members and Mayor Ron Belmont, gathered together to see the result of their hard work.
Special thanks to Mayor Ron Belmont and Library’s Board Member Joe Toplyn for joining us at the screening, to Gene Westmoreland for sharing your knowledge with the young filmmakers, to Magic Box’s Teaching Artist Hank Wagner and his assistant Mac Butcher for his amazing work, to Galina Chernykh, Jennie Yang, to the members of the Board of Directors and to all the Harrison Public Library collaborators for making this workshop a great success.
