This exciting summer media arts program created for the NYC DOE’s Division of English Language Learners and Student Support used cameras to connect students with their curriculum.
Middle and High School ELL (English Language Learners) students strengthened their skills in speaking, listening and writing through hands-on project-based learning.
At International Community High School, PS/IS 102Q Bayview and JHS 157, students worked with MBP’s Teaching Artists and ELL teachers to learn the vocabulary and techniques of stop-motion animation.
At Benjamin N. Cardozo HS, Crotona HS, IS 62 Ditmas, IS 72, IS 234, John Dewey HS and Lower East Side Prep, students explored photography, and used their cameras to capture the faces and places of their community.
In every workshop, students used the joy of creativity to build their artistic mastery, vocabulary, observational, and thinking skills.
