"A Travers Mes Yeux" / Through My Eyes" Student Photography Exhibit at French Embassy

On June 17, The Embassy of France was the perfect setting where families, teachers and students from PS84 and MS256’s Dual Language French program gathered during the MBP culminating photo exhibit.

"A Travers Mes Yeux /Through My Eyes" is a literacy-rich  photography program.  Working in a hands-on, collaborative media arts process,  over 50 students and teachers from PS 84 and MS 256’s Dual Language French programs worked with Magic Box teaching artists to study the art of photography through the lens of classic American and French photographers such as Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Delphine Diallo.   Participants took photographs, discussed and curated their work, and developed personal artist statements in French and English.  This program was funded by an Arts Continuum grant from the New York City Department of Education’s  Office of the Arts and Special Projects.

The exhibition was a stunning success, with students sharing their landscapes, portraits and artist statements. Special thanks to the Embassy of France, PS84, MS256, the NYC DOE, the teaching artists, classroom teachers, students and families for this amazing  experience and for making this event a great one!
